Hunting

A surprising variety of animals live in the locality. Each can be killed and skinned to yield valuable meats, skins, or feathers. The process is simple: hunt for animals, kill them, and use your Windows key to skin and harvest the animals.

You will not find animals by chance; you must track animals by using your hunting knife. Windows key to sniff the ground and reveal the distance and heading of a nearby animal; the higher your hunting skill the further away you can find animals. If there are no animals nearby, try sniffing a bit further away.

You can continue to track the same animal with your hunting knife; more than one distance reading can help to approximate the animal's location.

Hunting Knives

Hunting requires a hunting knife. You'll need to pick one up from the hunting store or find out in RP how to craft a superior blade.

Hunting Tent

Hunting stores sell pop-up utility tents. They can be placed on grass in clear areas using your Windows key. Try increasing your hunting level to unlock more functions.

Legality

Before hunting, you should research hunting laws and reference the Criminal Code. Always handle firearms with caution.

Hunting Season

Hunting Season is defined as the period when "hunting is permitted everywhere in the state aside from protected natural zones and where otherwise prohibited by law".

Hunting or targeting any wildlife when the hunting season is not in effect is poaching and against the law. The Hunting Season app can check if the season is in effect.

Firearms

Hunting weapons are still controlled firearms and require appropriate licenses. To hunt legally, you must purchase a firearm license from a gun store and a hunting license from the hunting store.

While crossbows and harpoon guns are considered Class 1 weapons, any hunting weapons should only be used for their designated purpose.

Protected Zones and Animals

Even with the right license, you cannot hunt anywhere you choose. You may not hunt or kill wildlife within protected zones such as National Parks.

Some animals are endangered or protected and it is illegal to hunt them. The Endangered Wildlife and Protected Species list can be found under the Criminal Code's definitions. The list is subject to change but tigers and turtles usually feature.

The Market for Meat

Restaurants

Meat is essential for most fast-food products. Due to demand, fast-food businesses may offer a better deal than the standard supermarket rate. Not all meats can be crafted into food items.

Hunting Trader

The designated trader is the obvious and reliable location to sell all hunting spoils. The hunting trader will purchase meats and skins not utilized by fast-food restaurants.

Moe

Moe is a trader who purchases meat and skins and sells hunting equipment. Building your reputation through Moe's missions will grant you a better price.
