About Keybinds

If it's your first time playing Arma 3, you can find Bohemia's basic default keybinds image here. Your base game's keybinds can be viewed, changed, or reset to default in the settings menu under "Game Controls".

Some keybinds use combined keystrokes. For example, the notation "Ctrl + 6" means pressing the "Ctrl" and "6" keys at the same time to activate.

Anzus has additional keybinds for the server's functions such as Windows Key to interact and Ctrl + 6 to open the animations or emote menu. This guide uses abbreviations for your mouse buttons: LMB for the Left Mouse Button and RMB for the Right mouse button.

Asigning to Hotbar

Your hotbar appears at the bottom center of your HUD. The numbered squares correlate to the numbers 1 - 9 across the top of your keyboard. Sections 1 - 3 cover your primary, secondary, and tertiary weapon slots (e.g. a rifle, a sidearm, and a pickaxe) and cannot be rebound. Keys 4 - 9 can be assigned a virtual item or animation for easy access on your hotbar.

To assign an item, open your personal virtual inventory with your Tab key. Press your desired number key while hovering your cursor over the item to bind it to that number. The item icon will appear in that numbered slot when successfully bound. If you don't have that item in your inventory, the icon will appear translucent and greyed out. The item must be "usable" from your virtual inventory to function with a keybind. For example, you can bind food items to eat or bandages to heal using your assigned hotkey.

Emotes and animations can also be bound to number keys. Use Ctrl + 6 to open the animation menu and navigate to the animation to bind. Press your desired number key while hovering your cursor over the item to bind it to that number. A gesture hand icon will appear in that numbered slot when successfully bound.

Troubleshooting

If you are having trouble with certain keybinds, ensure you are using them in the correct context and with the right equipment. For example, you must have a pickaxe in your hand and press "F" to mine, you must have night vision goggles (gloves) to use "N" to toggle night vision, or you must look directly at something to interact. If something still isn't working how it should be, you can use "F2" to create a staff ticket in game or ask for help in the Arma Support Discord channel. If your problem is more complex, you can join the Tech Support Teamspeak channels. Do not talk out of character in game including Twitter.

Virtual Inventory Keybinds

You can view the inventory help menu in game by clicking or hovering your cursor over the yellow question mark in the top right corner of your inventory menu. These keybinds will work in your personal virtual inventory and containers such as cars or briefcases.

When moving items around with shortcuts (e.g. Shift + LMB), your items will move to the ground unless another virtual inventory is open (e.g. a car). You can define the number of items to move with the text box or + and - buttons at the top left of the secondary inventory. Splitting a stack, by default, will split the items in half.

Some players chose to rebind their keys to match other game controls or even use a joystick. This table covers the basic default Arma keybinds. More information can be found in Bohemia's image guide here.

As a warning to new pilots, aircraft do not respond in the same way as a player or vehicle movement. For example, you must use LShift to gain thrust and start moving whereas you will be used to holding W to go forward on foot or in a car. Thrust will be maintained whereas letting go of W will cause you to stop or slow down.
