Illegal Activities/KOS Zones
"Kill on Sight" Zones
Red zones are red-highlighted areas on the map. They are "kill on sight" meaning shooting at someone does not require or create initiation. You must be inside the zone to shoot. You cannot shoot from inside to outside or outside to inside unless someone involves themselves with the zone (e.g. going in/out of the zone or giving callouts to people inside).
If a red zone disappears, normal initiation rules apply if shots have already been fired at the other party.
Conflict Areas
Capture Points
Capture Zones are conflict gang activity. These zones will have 3 different colours indicating capture status; they are KOS red zones at all times regardless of colour.
- White - not captured yet.
- Orange - currently being captured.
- Red - captured and actively held by a gang.
- Blue - captured and actively held by law enforcement.
To capture a zone, locate the flagpole within the zone (typically near the centre) and use your Windows key to start the capture. Whilst a gang is in control of a zone they will periodically gain gang funds multiplied by the current population of the server. Getting kills on enemy gangs within zones will also provide Gang Experience which can be used to unlock perk points for your Gang Hideout unlocks.
Certain law enforcement divisions may respond to capture points; the zone turns blue upon capture instead of red.
Air Drop
Upon holding a Capture Zone for 15 minutes, an airdrop will be delivered to the zone. The cache contains combat loot such as weapons and magazines.
Conflict Zone
Conflict Zone events occur in "No Man's Land": a type of red zone-style event outside of RP with exclusive rules. The objective is to capture points with your gang. A maximum of 8 gang members can attend the Conflict zone event (CTRG can ally but your numbers can not exceed a total of 8 members).
The medical rule preventing you from returning to the scene of your death does not apply in conflict zone events; if you die in a conflict zone event, you may return instantly.
Runs in Red Zones
Advanced Rebel Crafting
Crafters can make Advanced Rebel Weapons in the Advanced Rebel Crafting zone. Advanced Crafting is otherwise only available in a Mega Factory. This zone was introduced in the New York Life 7.5 Update.
Cocaine
Cocaine arrives at beaches in a red shipping crate. The location is a marked red zone. To gather cocaine, press "F" next to the container. The US Coast Guard patrols beaches to look out for shipment drops.
Meth Van
The Meth Van is a mobile red zone: the red circle will follow the vehicle as you drive to a suitable location to cook meth. There is a chance that the van may explode while cooking is in progress. This is an illegal activity which CID actively attempts to prevent by checking the location on routine patrols.
Cigar Grading
Cigars are processed further into illegal Mexican cigars. The Cigar grading processor is a red zone.
Red Zone Events
Events occur every 20 minutes throughout a restart. The scheduler cycles through events that spawn interactable objects and KOS zones.
In addition to an event's typical payout, KOS zones may also give rare drops for completing missions such as Star Metal Ingots.
Land Events
Most red zones appear over land. These events can be responded to by police and may fall under the jurisdiction of a specific department (e.g. CID).
Helicopter Crash
The Heli Crash event is one of the newest red zones introduced in the New York Life 7.5 update. The helicopter wreck can be looted for drugs and drug-making materials.
Car Air Drop
The Car Air Drop event is one of the newest red zones introduced in the New York Life 7.5 update. The car is a mobile red zone: the red circle will follow the vehicle as you drive to the drop-off. The red zone will persist for 15 minutes or until delivered.
Civilians should deliver the car to the chop shop for cash whereas law enforcement will return the vehicle to DOC. DOC becomes a red zone during the drop-off.
Cartel Money
Cartel Money spawns a tent-covered money printer. A player can activate the machine by pressing the Windows key on the machine, and then electing to begin printing. This will start giving the player cash over time. This is an illegal activity which CID actively attempts to prevent by checking the location on routine patrols.
Plane Crash
Scavengers may loot KOS plane crashes. The wreck requires "Jaws of Life" to open. The plane carries valuable pharmaceuticals.
Weapons Cache
The Weapons Cache falls from the sky with a parachute; the KOS zone appears around the landing site. The crate contains a couple of guns and their magazines. This is an illegal activity which SWAT actively attempts to prevent by responding to the situation when the event begins.
Meteorite Mining
Meteor impact sites and fragments are of great scientific interest and mining meteorites is illegal.
You will have five minutes from the initial warning of an incoming meteor impact before the meteor strikes the ground. Keep a distance of at least 120m to avoid debris damage. You will have five minutes to collect meteorite fragments with your pickaxe before they become oxidised and un-minable.
Aquatic Events
Water events typically fall under the jurisdiction of the US Coast Guard.
Asylum Seekers
Between three and six AI Asylum Seekers can spawn in a boat wearing various high-visibility clothing. You will have to drive slowly by them within ~5 meters of distance in a boat which will load them into your vehicle.
You may turn these in by heading to a boat shop and interacting with the sign to turn in asylum seekers. The payout is multiplied by the amount of relevant police online. This is deemed an illegal activity and police actively try to stop this activity from taking place by securing the asylum seekers.
Protected Coral
Coral reefs are a protected species and it is illegal to disturb them. They can be gathered by swimming down and using a pickaxe to mine chunks of coral. The coral can be sold to the illegal trader.
Jellyfish Swarms
Jellyfish are an endangered and protected species. They are infrequent visitors to our local waters; their swarms are vast but they do not stay for long. To net for jellyfish, head to the "Swarm of Jellyfish" marked on the map in a boat with trunk space. Use your Windows key while in the boat to drop a net and wait for it to fill. The jellyfish will be automatically added to the boat trunk.
Shipwreck
Shipwreck can be opened with an underwater charge. The boats contain loot such as refined oil.
History
Capture Zones
Points are regularly moved, renamed, or repurposed to diversify conflict. Previous zones included Devils Port, Winter Mansion, Scrap Yard and Ghost Hotel.
Meth Lab
The Meth Van replaced the brick meth lab building in the Kamdan Life 5.7 Update.
Mobster & Cartel
Previously, two zones existed which, when captured, would give ownership of different illegal runs and grant the owner fees per backpack processed. You could choose to deny fees and the relevant gang would be informed. These capture zones were unique in their initiation rules: if you shot before the zone turns green the initiation continues but if the zone is green it is not KOS.
