Windows key menu for a fully grown crop.

Crops

One farming method involves planting seeds, waiting for crops to grow, and harvesting. Crops can be planted in the ground by right-clicking on the seeds in your virtual inventory and selecting "plant"; binding the seeds to your hot bar is more efficient. Use your Windows key to monitor the plant's growth and harvest once it is fully grown.

Farming experience can also be gained by gathering at farm locations such as chopping down trees at tree farms. More information on tree felling can be found in the Legal Mining section.

Legal Crops

Lettuce - Lettuce is an ingredient in burgers and sandwiches.
Wheat - Wheat is the sole ingredient for dough for burger buns and doughnuts.
Potato - Seed potatoes can only be purchased by signed-on restaurant employees. Potatoes are required to craft fries. Fast-food workers can also order shipments of potatoes straight from the restaurant and forgo the farming experience.

Marijuana

Growing marijuana is illegal for most civilians except those licensed to cultivate medicinal marijuana.

The mechanics are identical to legal farming however you will not be able to find their seeds at the farming store. Planting marijuana seeds requires a certain farming level; you will need to build experience through legal methods before trying to grow weed.

Purchasable Land

Players or businesses may invest in plots of land to grow crops. The ability to use barrels of fertilizer is the main benefit of owning farmlands. Fertile land makes crops grow significantly faster.

Farmland

Players can purchase plots of farmland to grow crops on. Farmlands can also be rented out to other players and owners can lock and unlock any sheds on their property.

Orchard

Berry orchards are purchaseable by players. While the owner is online, berries will grow and deposit into the virtual storage. Other players can steal them. Berries are the key ingredient of berry doughnuts; a far more powerful version of original glazed doughnuts.

Equipment

Technology can be used to make the farming process more efficient.

Crop Duster

Crop Dusting is a government job that involves fertilising crops from the sky. While the role involves dusting requested locations on the map, the crop duster can also boost player-planted crop growth.

To dust crops:

  • Use your Windows key while piloting the Crop Duster
  • "Start Duster" while a good distance above the crops - 100m - 200m is sufficient.

Combine Harvester

The combine harvester is a large utility vehicle purchasable at the truck shop. It can be used to harvest fully grown crops quickly and efficiently.

While in the driver's seat:

  • Use your scroll wheel to start spinning the harvester blades
  • Windows key to select "Run Harvester"
  • Drive the harvester across the crops to harvest

Crops harvested will be automatically deposited into the virtual inventory of the harvester.

History

Grapes and Wine

Wine runs were added in the Texas Life 7.1 update. Grapes could be gathered at vineyards and processed into wine. Both grapes and wine could be consumed.

Gathering grapes gave farming experience; this run was intended to be an alternative to planting wheat and lettuce to develop your farming level. Wine runs were a mid-tier money maker offering a more lucrative further processing into Mexican Wine: an illegal activity.

Wine runs were removed in the New York Life 7.5 update to consolidate runs.
